A collaborative, wearable art piece inspired by the lesser flamingos that flock to Lake Natron in northern Tanzania each year to breed. The striking red waters of this highly alkaline, soda lake make it adverse to all but a few species that are specially adapted to live in it. So, of course, the lesser flamingos gorgeously thriving in its caustic shallows are awe-inspiring, to say the least.
This series included a #wearableart puzzle component wherein patrons could choose their own "piece of the puzzle [and be a] part of the community", to wear as a set of earrings or a necklace pendant. Hand-dipped acrylic rose feathers earrings with a grey variant, studs, and Mwezi ("moon" in Swahili) style options completed the collection. All limited in quantity.
